It’s Cherry Blossom Season In NYC

syndication-kitsap-sun-4
(New York, NY)  —  It’s finally spring and that means it’s cherry blossom season in New York City.  Tens of thousands of cherry trees will be showing off their beautiful pink and white petals in the five boroughs.  According to the New York Times, most cherry trees will be in bloom by mid-April, with some starting sooner.
In addition, the location of a tree can dictate when it blooms.  In New York City, due to the insulation of buildings and pavement, it’s slightly warmer and trees start blooming earlier.  The three most common types of cherry trees in the city are the Okame, Yoshino and Kwanzan.  You can also track the blossoming trees via CherryWatch at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s website.
