syndication-detroit-free-press-51

(College Park, MD) — Kermit the Frog will deliver the commencement address at the University of Maryland in College Park on May 21st. The university announced the beloved Muppet and legendary frog will return to the campus where he was created to share an inspiring message with 2025 graduates.

Kermit took to social media to comment on his upcoming speech “Nothing could make these feet happier than to speak at the University of Maryland. I just know the class of 2025 is going to leap into the world and make it a better place, so if a few encouraging words from a frog can help, then I’ll be there!”

Muppets creator Jim Henson graduated from University of Maryland in 1960. A home economics major, Henson created Kermit using one of his mother’s coats and a ping-pong ball cut in half. Henson passed away in 1990.
