NBA: Washington Wizards at Philadelphia 76ers
(Philadelphia, PA) — Rapper and actor Will Smith now has a street named after him in his home city of Philadelphia. A block in West Philly where Smith grew up is now called Will Smith Way. The 56-year-old showed up for the street naming on Wednesday. He told a crowd that he has great memories from the old neighborhood, walking the streets in the snow and heading everyday to a local high school.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherell Parker said Smith “is unapologetic about letting you know that ‘I’m Will Smith, in West Philadelphia born and raised.'”
There were some in the “City of Brotherly Love” who feel Smith does not deserve to be honored, after an incident back in 2022 where he infamously slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face over a joke Rock made at the Academy Awards about Smith’s wife.
