(Washington, DC) — Executives at National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service are facing allegations of political bias in Congress. During a Wednesday House DOGE hearing over public funding for the outlets, Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed hard-working Americans are being forced to subsidize news outlets with a “communist” agenda.
NPR’s head Katherine Maher and PBS President Paula Kerger defended their outlets, claiming they both subscribe to the highest journalistic standards and are not biased. Both cited the continued need for the millions of taxpayer dollars, noting they are the only source of news in smaller communities.
Maher did call a report “concerning” that there are 87 employees at her DC bureau that are registered Democrats and zero that are Republicans.
