(New York, NY) – First Lady Melania Trump’s wedding dress appears to be up for auction on eBay. The custom Christian Dior wedding gown designed by John Galliano is up on the digital auction site for less than half of the original price. The dress originally cost the First Lady $100,000 for the Palm Beach Wedding in 2005. Trump was featured on the cover of Vogue. The dress features hand-sewn crystal beading that took over 500 hours to create with Swarovski crystals detailing the 13-foot-long train. The gown weighs a total of 60 pounds.
The seller in the item description notes that she had the dress altered from a size 0-2 to a 4-6 in order to fit her for her own wedding. It has only been worn twice – once by Melania Trump – the second by the eBay user. The person selling the dress claims she has a mutual friend with the First Lady that arranged her purchase in 2010 for $70,000 – still a fraction of what the First Lady originally commissioned. Neither the original designer Galliano, nor First Lady Melania Trump have commented on this auction taking over fashion headlines.
