(New York, NY) — Restaurants across the five boroughs have been given the green light to start constructing outdoor dining sheds, that were vital to business during the pandemic. Dining Out NYC’s roadway dining program is set to start April first. The City’s Department of Transportation has laid out strict guidelines this year that mandate set ups must be open air and have barriers. The D-O-T says Dining Out NYC is already more than two and half times the size of the pre-COVID sidewalk café program.
600 restaurants have been told they can build roadway dining structures. Another 2,000 locations are cleared for sidewalk dining. The city has set up a website that helps guide restaurants owners on the rules and how to build the structures correctly.
