MLB: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays
(New York, NY) — Former Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner and his family are mourning the sudden passing of their teenage son. The Gardner family announced on Sunday the death of 14-year-old Miller. In a statement they say he fell ill with several relatives while on vacation, and passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday morning. They went on to say they “have so many questions, and so few answers at this point.”
The family has not detailed where the vacation took place or what other family members came down with when they fell ill.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone called the news “unimaginable” and said the team will be supporting Gardner, his wife Jessica and their family in any way they can. Brett Gardner retired after the 20-21 season with the Yankees.
