Kuala Lumpur) — Malaysia’s cabinet has given final approval to the details of a “no find, no fee” contract with a U.S. company to look for the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the Indian Ocean. Under the agreement, the Malaysian government will not have to pay anything if the search is unsuccessful. In a statement, it says it is committed to continuing the search to provide closure for the victims’ families.
The plane vanished after it took off from Kuala Lumpur back on March 8th, 2014. There were 239 people onboard, mostly Chinese nationals. It was headed to Beijing. The plane is believed to have gone down in the Indian Ocean.
Other exploration groups have searched for the plane over the years with no luck.
