(New York, NY) — Governor Kathy Hochul is refusing to pull the plug on congestion pricing, defying an order by the White House to do so come Friday. Hochul says the program was implemented legally under the the Biden Administration. President Trump says the federal approval for the toll program has since been rescinded, and the cameras must be turned off by Friday.
Polls find congestion pricing has become more popular since it was instituted back on January 5th. In a recent Sienna College survey of New Yorkers, 42 percent say they want the tolling program to stay in place, 35 percent support President Trump’s efforts to stop it.
So what will happen come Friday, no one is quite sure.
