Bronx, NY) — Yankee pitcher Gerrit Cole will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire 2025 season. The 34-year-old right handed ace is going under the knife in Los Angeles. Cole took to Instagram to say medical advice that he undergo the surgery isn’t something any athlete wants to hear, but it’s the necessary next step forward for his career.
Even though recovery from Tommy john surgery could take up to 18 months, number 45 says he still has a lot left to give and he’s fully committed to the work ahead. Cole has four years and 144-million-dollars left on his contract with the Yankees.
New York opens the regular season on March 27th when it hosts the Milwaukee Brewers at Yankee Stadium.
