(New York, NY) – It’s that time of year again, when most people in the country “spring ahead”. It began early Sunday morning when the hour skipped 2 and went from 1:59 to 3:00 a.m. While some welcome the change, excited for the warm weather to hit the Northeast, there are some people who want to see it gone on a national level. As of right now it’s up to the states. Clocks jumped ahead in the country, with exceptions for Arizona and Hawaii. Daylight saving is also practiced in parts of Europe and Canada. President Donald Trump did promise to get rid of the practice on the campaign trail, but has not ordered any official ordinance as of yet.
Hospitals are preparing for a spike in heart-attack visits for the Monday that follows. Experts believe the disruption of the body’s natural rhythm could play a role in the adverse health effects. The time change also impacts dogs according to studies from University of Toronto. However, in a bit of a silver lining, fatal car crashes fall as it will be light out for longer during peak traffic time. First responders also say people should double check the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
