(New York, NY) — Egg prices are sky high, so why are the prices of those classic bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches going down at some bodegas across New York City?  They are replacing those expensive real eggs with liquid ones from a cardboard container. Some owners using the liquid eggs claim their customers cannot tell the difference.  ‘

It costs around ten dollars now for a dozen eggs in most bodegas. A carton of liquid eggs, that is the equivalent of 18 goes for around seven dollars.

The bodegas using liquid eggs now have lowered the price of the famed egg sandwich from around six bucks to $4.99. It’s not clear if the new sandwiches will chase away customers, some who complain they can tell the difference between fresh eggs and ones from a container.
