(New York, NY) — New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams is expected to jump into the race for mayor today. She would be joining a crowded field of nine Democrats that include the current Mayor Eric Adams. The City Council Speaker is not related to the current mayor.
On Wednesday, Adrienne Adams took some shots at Mayor Adams during a rally at City Hall. In her state of the City Address this week, the Council Speaker said she will fight President Trump’s crusade against immigrant families. Mayor Adams has been criticized for cozying up to the Trump Administration in an attempt to get his corruption case dropped.
The Council Speaker joins the race just as poll comes out that finds Mayor Adams approval rate is at just at 20 percent and former Governor Andrew Cuomo is the far and away favorite of the pack of Democratic mayoral hopefuls.
