(New York, NY) — At midnight, President Trump laid down 25-percent tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada. He also slapped another 10-percent tariff on Chinese imports. Canada is fighting back with a retaliatory 25-percent tariff on billions of dollars of goods from the United States. Americans say they are worried about what this will all mean for their pocketbooks and wallets. Democrats say the tariffs will only make inflation worse and alienate our allies.
Ontario’s premier, Doug Ford says the back and forth tariffs will be an “absolute disaster” for both the U.S. and Canada. Ford is threatening to stop his province’s shipments of nickel to the United States, which would negatively impact American manufacturing. He also threatened to shut down the electricity that goes to the U.S.
