syndication-sarasota-herald-tribune-30

President Donald Trump signs executive orders January 20. 2025 at Capital One Arena in Washington.

(Washington, DC) — The theme of President Trump’s address to the joint session of Congress tonight will be the “Renewal of the American Dream.” A White House official said Trump will focus on his record so far, the economy, border security, and his plan for global peace.

Some Democrats are inviting federal workers who have lost their jobs to attend President Trump’s speech tonight. Many workers have lost their jobs as Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency have been calling for mass layoffs. Democratic Congressman Brad Schneider of Illinois said while some Democrats are opting to skip the speech, others are bringing the fired workers to show it’s the American people who have been hurt by Musk and Trump. The White House is accusing Democrats of exploiting the American people in a bid to score political points.

Trump’s speech is set to start at 9 p.m. Eastern.
