The remains of the Kingda Ka rest on the ground after it was demolished Friday morning, February 28, 2025.

(Jackson, NJ) — The famous Kingda Ka roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is no more. Officials set off a series of controlled explosions this morning at the Jackson theme park to bring down what was once the world’s tallest and faster roller coaster.

It debuted two decades ago and since then carried 12 million riders at speeds of 128 miles per hour. Officials say in its place will be another roller coaster later this year and later in 2026 another roller coaster described as a multi world record breaker will be erected. The ride closed at the end of last season.
