(Santa Fe, NM) —Â Hollywood star Gene Hackman, his wife and their dog were found dead in their New Mexico home late Wednesday afternoon. Police say they do not believe there was any foul play, but are unsure what killed the three. They were all found after police did a welfare check at the home on Wednesday.
The 95-year-old Hackman won two Oscars over his 50-year career, for “The French Connection” in 1971 and again some 20 years later for the film “Unforgiven.
Hackman began pursuing an acting career in the late 1950s, joining the Pasadena Playhouse in California, where he befriended Dustin Hoffman. He was in at least 73 films, including playing a basketball coach in the 1986 drama “Hoosiers,” and Lex Luthor in the 1978 version of “Superman.
