(Washington, DC) – Clint Hill, the US Secret Service agent who dove on top of President JFK’s motorcade in an attempt to stop his assassination, has died. Hill was 93 years old. News cameras famously captured images of him diving to shield first lady Jacqueline Kennedy on that fateful day in November of 1963.

The since retired agent died at home on Monday, February 24, 2025. In an interview with 60 Minutes around 10 years past the assassination, Hill indicated he would have been willing to give his life to save JFK there in Dallas. He went on to serve five president in total — including Dwight Eisenhower and Gerald Ford.

Hill was eventually presented with the highest civilian honor for bravery — as awarded by the US Treasury Department — which oversaw the Secret Service until the early 2000s. At that time, President George W. Bush shifted the agency to the Department of Homeland Security. Hill’s honor specifically connected to his efforts to protect the first lady during the assassination.
