A scare in the air for some New Yorkers

(Rome, Italy) — Police in Italy now say a bomb threat, that forced an American Airlines flight to New Delhi to be diverted to Rome on Sunday was unfounded. Italian fighter jets escorted the plane to Leonardo da Vinci Airport, where it landed safely and was met by law enforcement. They searched the plane and did not find anything onboard. American Airlines says the bomb threat, that was received by email was later determined not to be credible. The plane was eventually cleared to continue onto to New Delhi, it’s final destination.

The flight was over the Central Asian country of Turkmenistan went is turned back to Italy amid the email threat. The 199 passengers and 15 crew members on the flight were stuck on the ground in Italy for around 15 hours before it was cleared to continue on.
