Hochul Reins In Adams

syndication-poughkeepsie-journal-12

(New York, NY) — New York Governor Kathy Hochul is deciding not to remove New York City Mayor Eric Adams from office, but she is putting limits on his power. Hochul says she’s troubled by the allegations that Adams made a deal with the Trump administration to cooperate with its crackdown on immigration in exchange for the dropping of the federal corruption case against the mayor. However, she believes the will of the voters preclude her power to remove him.

Hochul is proposing legislation to create a special inspector general to manage the city’s affairs and to give the city council speaker, comptroller and public advocate independent authority to take legal action against the federal government. She’s also wants to expand funding for the state comptroller for city oversight. Hochul says New York is facing a great threat from Washington.

Meanwhile, Mayor Adams has repeatedly denied all the allegations saying he’s done nothing wrong.
