(Palm Beach, FL) — President Trump says Russian President Vladimir Putin “wants to stop fighting” in Ukraine. Speaking on Sunday, Trump told reporters the pair spoke “long and hard,” adding that Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff was with Putin for multiple hours. The Trump administration has continued to seek and end to the Russia and Ukraine conflict. Trump also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “wants to end it too.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the country won’t recognize any of its territory occupied by Russia as part of Russia. Zelenskyy said no amount of negotiations will get Ukraine to change its borders. This comes after President Trump said it’s unlikely that Ukraine will get back all the territory it’s lost in the war as part of a peace deal. Zelensky went on to say Ukraine needs security guarantees from the U.S., emphasizing that his country joining NATO is the cheapest way to ensure regional stability.
European leaders are scheduled to meet for an emergency summit in Paris today focusing on Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine and to discuss the continent’s increasingly strained relationship with the U.S. The news comes after President Trump spoke with Russian President Putin about negotiating an end to the war.
