RFK Jr. Confirmed as Health Secretary

syndication-usa-today-355

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. testifies before the Senate Finance Committee during a confirmation hearing on his nomination to be Secretary of Health and Human Services on Jan. 29, 2025 in Washington.

(Washington, DC) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been confirmed by the US Senate and will be sworn in as Health Secretary. In a 52 to 48 vote, senators confirmed the son of former New York Senator RFK, meaning he will head up the Department of Health and Human Services. US Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was the lone Republican not to vote to confirm RFK Jr.

That move continued a trend for McConnell, who was also the only Republican not to vote to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as intelligence chief. Meanwhile, among the Democrats who voted against confirming Kennedy Jr., many pointed to his past criticism of some vaccines as the reason why.

Kennedy Jr. ran for president this past summer as a Democrat, and then Independent, but eventually dropped out an endorsed President Trump. His uncle JFK is also an area of intrigue during the Trump Administration, as the president has vowed to declassify documents related to the 1963 assassination.
