(New York, NY) — Apparently all the congestion pricing cash flowing into the MTA is not enough. MTA Chair Janno Lieber is asking state lawmakers to come up with 33 billion dollars more to fully fund their five year capital program. Lieber was questioned at a hearing in Albany Thursday over the need for the money, now that congestion pricing is in effect. Lieber told lawmakers that the 120 year-old subway system needs a dire makeover. The MTA chief says he worried about vital subway structures falling apart and the power system going down.

The MTA has revealed all kinds of data over the last few weeks that shows congestion is working. The only item that have not shared – is how much money they have made off the toll plan. It’s unclear if lawmakers in Albany will cough up any more cash.
