Spirit Airlines Has a New Dress Code

mixcollage-24-jan-2025-10-05-am-9531

Following some high-profile incidents, Spirit Airlines has established a new dress code. January 24, 2025.

(Dania Beach, FL) – Budget carrier Spirit Airlines is ordering passengers to clean it up. Specifically, the airline now requires its passengers to follow a dress code. This follows a series of high-profile incidents regarding what was deemed to be lewd or inappropriate clothing.

Back in October, two female passengers were kicked off their flight for wearing crop tops that had a bare midriff. More recently, a man wore a hoodie with the F-word on it. In that incident, one fellow passenger told the San Antonio Express-News: “It caught me, like, totally by surprise. Like, ‘Man, are you serious?’”

And so, in an update to its “contract of carriage,” Spirit says passengers will be barred from boarding or asked to leave — if they’re “inadequately clothed.” The airline defines that as “see-through clothing, not adequately covered, exposed breasts, buttocks or other private parts.” Previously, Spirit banned barefoot passengers or “offensive” clothing.

Also, Spirit has updated its rules to ban people with offensive tattoos. Body art can get you banned if it is “lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature.”
