(New York, NY) — The smell of rotting flesh in Brooklyn may be coming from a flower at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The corpse flower, which is native to Indonesia is about to bloom any day now.  As it begins to open, the flower sends off a scent that has been described as rotting flesh, or bad cheese among other things.

The corpse flower usually only blooms every 10 years, so that’s why it is a big event at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The flower is likely to open up by the end of the week. It will only stay open for a few days.
