(Yaphank, NY) — More than 100-thousand ducks are being euthanized on Long Island due to bird flu. The avian flu outbreak was confirmed last week at Crescent Duck Farm in Aqueboque, the oldest and last commercial duck farm in Suffolk County.

The duck farm is under quarantine with strict biosecurity measures in place while the entire flock is euthanized.  Suffolk County Health Commissioner Gregson Pigott says none of the farm workers exposed are sick at this time but they are being closely monitored. Suffolk County health officials say there’s minimal risk to the public.
