(New York, NY) — Democrats in New York City say they are very upset with Mayor Adams for accepting a last minute invitation to attend President Trump’s inauguration on Monday. They say he should have never skipped out on MLK day events here to go to D.C. City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams went after Adams at an event celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. New York City Public Advocate,  Jumaane Williams says he is stunningly disappointed with the Mayor’s decision to be in D.C.

An Adams spokesman say the Mayor accepted a last minute offer to be at the inauguration on behalf of the city.

The mayor’s critics say he was there looking for a pardon from President Trump ahead of his bribery trial in April. Adams has also been criticized by Democrats for saying he would work with President Trump on immigration and other issues.
