(New York, NY) – Stay away from the brownstone — that’s the message from the owner of an West Village apartment that was featured in HBO’s “Sex and The City” program. The fictional Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, lived at 66 Perry Street. And so fans of the TV show routinely show up to sit on the steps or front stoop of the brownstone.
Now the owner wants to take additional steps aimed at stopping people from showing up. According to “Feed Me,” a newsletter written by a New Yorker, the owner of the brownstone has filed an application with the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission. It would allow a gate to be constructed out front.
Because the brownstone is located in the Greenwich Village Historic District, a permit would be required. Apparently the “no trespassing sign” put up by the owner hasn’t worked. She also installed a chain, but that’s not keeping people off the steps or from peering into doorways and windows.
