(Yuma, AZ) – A tattoo artist is facing outrage after he made a post where he is seen inking up the arm of a 9-year-old girl. The artist goes by the name “Sosa” and is part owner of Black Onyx Empire Tattoo in Yuma – a town sitting on the border of Arizona and California. According to Arizona state law, minors can get tattooed at any age – with proper parental consent and presence. The parents traveled from out of state just for the tattoo.
Originally, the girl wanted a neck tattoo of President-Elect Donald Trump. However, Sosa says he convinced her to go for an American flag on her arm instead. Sosa says he is getting a lot of hate for complying with the young girl’s wishes to get the flag permanently marked on her arm. Reportedly, the girl’s family originally hails from Turkey and wanted to show their gratitude for the United States. Meanwhile, Sosa says that he would never tattoo his young children and is not promoting kids to get tattoos. The last four Yelp reviews for the AZ-based shop are all 1 star and lambaste the actions of Sosa and the parents of the girl.
