(New York, NY) – The Supreme Court is allowing President-elect Trump’s sentencing in the New York hush money case to go forward. Thursday, (January 9, 2025) the high court rejected Trump’s request to block criminal proceedings in the case. It was a 5-4 decision with four conservative judges dissenting.
The court’s decision clears the way for Judge Juan M. Merchan to impose a sentence Friday, January 10, 2025 on Trump, who was convicted in what prosecutors called an attempt to cover up a $130,000 hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels. Trump has denied any liaison with Daniels or any wrongdoing.
Trump called the decision a disgrace, calling the judge “highly conflicted’. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20th.
