(New Orleans, LA) – Former NYPD Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is heading down South to work as a consultant with the New Orleans Police – looking into safety concerns following a New Year’s Day terrorist attack. The public is demanding answers from officials on the lapses in security that led to 14 people being killed on Bourbon Street. The City Council of New Orleans is launching an investigation into the street barrier systems that are designed to block vehicle traffic.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick announced in a city council meeting that she thought about who to bring in for help and only one name came to mind: two-time commissioner of the NYPD and Chief of Police in Los Angeles, Bill Bratton. Kirkpatrick says she personally called Bratton who agreed to help. Bratton’s focus will reportedly be risk assessment and “hard targeting” any vulnerable areas of the city.
