(Woonsocket, RI) – It’s common these days to run into some roadblocks while shopping. That used to be true while driving the road to the store — now it happens inside the retail establishment. In an increasing number of stores, inventory is locked away behind plexiglass, so as to thwart shoplifting.
And that’s certainly true at many CVS locations. But the pharmacy chain wants to make it easier to do it on your own. A feature in the CVS mobile app will let trustworthy customers unlock it themselves.
Walmart is apparently testing out a similar feature — starting with their employees. According to cyber security expert Alan Crowitz, shoppers will spend their money elsewhere in order to avoid the inconvenience of locked-away inventory.
