(New York, NY) — MTA leaders are unhappy with Queens City councilwoman Vickie Paladino, after she took to social media to warn that laser pointers could be easily be used to disable cameras taking pictures of cars traveling into the congestion pricing zone. Paladino has been a critic of the plan to charge drivers nine dollars to motor into midtown. She warned lasers could damage the cameras that capture license plate numbers and EZ-Pass tags.
Paladino says the laser pointers can easily be purchased online for around thirty dollars. MTA Chair Janno Lieber says her social media message was “unfortunate.”
