(New York, NY) — A Manhattan federal judge could make a final decision today on the MTA’s controversial congestion pricing plan. Multiple groups are speaking at today’s hearing as they sue to block the MTA’s plan to charge drivers an average of nine-dollars to enter below Manhattan’s 60th Street during peak hours. Congestion pricing is set to go into effect on January 5th.
The four lawsuits being heard today raise concerns about shifting traffic and pollution. President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to end the program once he gets into office, that’s why New York lawmakers are working fast to turn the tolling scanners on before he’s sworn in.
