(New York, NY) — Some unionized Amazon drivers walked off the job Thursday morning. The  Teamsters, who represent the drivers are asking the online retailer for better pay and benefits. Drivers were up early and walking the picket line outside an Amazon warehouse in Maspeth, Queens. The union says there will be picket lines set up at fulfillment centers across the nation.

Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien, tweeted out,  “If your package is delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon’s insatiable greed. He says the union gave Amazon a clear deadline to negotiate a better deal for drivers and claims Amazon ignored it.

Amazon says the Teamsters have illegally coerced drivers to join their union. They say it’s unclear how many drivers will take part in the action. Amazon does not think the strike will have a major impact on it’s operations.
