(New York, NY) — New York City has downgraded its drought warning to a watch. Mayor Adams says all the rain over the last few weeks, along with melting snow upstate has helped replenish reservoirs where the big apple gets its drinking water. The mayor says if conditions continue, the city should be able to do away with the watch in a few weeks.
The news is not as good across the Hudson in New Jersey. The U.S. Drought monitor reports nearly half the state is still under an extreme drought condition. The rest of the state is in a severe drought. Forecasters hope the onset of winter weather, will begin to refill shallow reservoirs the state uses for it’s drinking water.
