(Trenton, NJ) — The mayor of towns across New Jersey were invited to a meeting by the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday to discuss those mysterious drones. Those local lawmakers say they walked out of the meeting more confused than when they walked in. Pequannock Mayor Ryan Herd says he was there for answers and to make sure his town’s residents wont be harmed by the drones. Herd says no assurances were made during the meeting. Other mayors say they were shocked that little was revealed.
Wednesday’s meeting comes after New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew told FOX News that he thinks the mysterious drones could possibly be from Iran. He was calling for them to be shot down. In a statement, the Republican says there is evidence that suggests the drones could be the work of foreign adversaries, specifically Iran, and thinks the situation is part of a massive national security threat. The Pentagon was quick to cold water on Van Drew’s theory, but they did not detail what they know about the unmanned aircraft.
