(Blair County, PA) – Luigi Mangione, the suspected murdered of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is fighting extradition to New York City. The 26-year-old detained suspect, who is an Ivy League school graduate and former high school valedictorian, was denied bail in Pennsylvania. Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Monday when an employee recognized him from news reports.

Last Wednesday, Thompson was gunned down at age 50, and later died at the hospital. He was the CEO of the nation’s largest healthcare company and lived in Minnesota — where he was laid to rest on Monday following a private service.

When cops took Mangione into custody he reportedly had a ghost gun on his person, as well as a fake New Jersey ID, and a “shooter’s manifesto” — which reportedly expresses anger and resentment toward the healthcare or insurance industry. His social media activity is now being combed and studied as a result.

When he was being led into the courthouse on Tuesday, Mangione shouted out to reporters that this was an “insult to people’s intelligence and their lived experiences.”
