(Washington, D.C.) — Just days after President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, the Reverend Jesse Jackson is asking for one for his son and his son’s ex-wife. Reverend Jackson sent a letter to the president asking that he pardon former Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. and his ex-daughter-in-law Sandy Jackson. Jackson Jr. and Sandi Jackson plead guilty in 2013 to using 750-thousand dollars in campaign funds for personal expenses. The Jacksons divorced in 2018.
Jesse Jackson Jr. spent 30 months in prison for wire and mail fraud. His ex-wife was behind bars for a year for filing false tax returns.
The letter from the Reverend Jesse Jackson pleaded with the president to “weigh the balance of his life and the power of forgiveness” in considering Jesse Jackson Jr. for a pardon.
