(Plainview, NY) — A Plainview, Long Island family, who believed their young son was being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, were told Sunday that he is dead. The Israeli Army now believes 21-year-old Omer Nuetra was killed during the Oct 7th 2023 terror attack on Israel. They say the soldier was killed in a battle with the Hamas terrorists who poured over the border into Israel on that day. The IDF believes Hamas brought his body back to Gaza to make it look like he was being held hostage. Nuetra joined the army after spending a gap year in Israel.

Over the weekend, Hamas released a video of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, The 20-year-from Tenafly. New Jersey can be seen begging for his life. His parents say the video was hard to watch, but it was finally a sign that he is still alive. Alexander mentions the numbers of days he has been held and the election of Donald Trump.  He joined the Israeli army after graduating Tenafly High School.
