(Los Angeles, CA) — Today, the Menendez brothers will appear virtually at a court hearing in Los Angeles as they ask a judge to resentence them in the 1989 murders of their parents. The brother’s attorney, Mark Geragos says there is new evidence that proves Lyle and Erik were sexually abused by their father Jose.
Outgoing Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has been recommending resentencing. The brothers are currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole but could be made immediately eligible for parole as youthful offenders.
There’s been renewed interest in the Menendez brothers case since Netflix released the hit true-crime drama series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”
