(New York, NY) – A tourist from Italy is recovering after being victimized in a random attack in Manhattan. While walking down Madison Avenue on Saturday morning, 42-year old Paolo Rech was slashed out of nowhere. Rech is a computer science professor who was in town ahead of a speaking engagement at NYU.
The victim told ABC-7 that he noticed his attacker staring blankly at a Wi-Fi kiosk, then before he could react, she turned around with a knife in hand and cut Rech’s right hand. This follows another attack this past Wednesday where a Danish tourist was slashed in the face.
The suspect in this latest random attack is still on the loose. They’re described as a woman in her 30s, around 5’7” with dark hair.
