(New York, NY) – The police officer shot by a lifetime parolee in a busy retail area in Queens Tuesday evening is out of the hospital. Officer Rich Wong was greeted by hundreds of other officers when he left Jamaica Hospital late this morning.
He was shot in the leg when Gary Worthy allegedly opened fire on cops responding to two robberies along Jamaica Avenue at 164th Street  Wong returned fire, striking Worthy in the face, killing him. An innocent bystander, a 26-year-old woman, was also shot in the leg and has been recovering in the hospital. Police say the Worthy has 17 prior arrests, including for murder, and was arrested just day ago on narcotics possession.
