(New York, NY) – With President-elect Trump vowing to enact a mass deportation of illegal immigrants, some have asked what will happen in so-called “sanctuary cities” like New York. During his weekly press availability, Mayor Eric Adams was asked for his thoughts:
Adams and Trump have cozied up to each other somewhat in recent weeks, especially after Adams was indicted for alleged corruption and bribery. Trump has seemed open to the idea that Adams was targeted with a weaponized prosecution, something the President-elect feels he has been victimized by as well.
There has been a suggestion from some that Adams was indicted by the Biden-Harris DOJ because he spoke out against the current White House’s approach to immigration. Adams also asked for additional federal funding amid the influx of migrants.
