(New York, NY) — The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas is being cut down today in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It’s the first tree to come from the Bay State since 1959. Rockefeller Center’s chief gardener and tree scout, Erik Pauze says he had his eye on the 74 foot tall Norway Spruce for years. The family that own’s the plot of land where the tree stands say they were happy to donate it.
A flat bed truck will cart the 11 ton tree to Manhattan. It will arrive on Saturday. Once it’s put in place, the tree will be decorated with 50-thousand Christmas lights and adorned with an 800-pound Swarovski crystal tree topper. The tree will be lit on December 4th.
