(Norman. OK) — A Norman, Oklahoma teenager was killed in a head on crash as he and his mother were enroute to a Kansas City Chiefs game, a birthday present from his mom. 18-year-old Connor Barba was behind the wheel, his mother Megan in the front passenger seat when an oncoming vehicle plowed into their car on a two lane highway. Barba and the driver of the other vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Monday night Chiefs game against Tampa Bay was supposed to be an evening of celebration for Megan Barnett and her son who had just tuned 18. Barnett survived the crash and is in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.
Family members back in Norman say they are in shock. One relative describing Connor as an outstanding individual with an incredible smile. They say they can’t believe a fun mother son trip turned into a tragedy.
