(New York, NY) — — Mayor Eric Adams has issued a drought watch for New York City after an October with almost no rain.  Adams is asking every city agency to find a way right now to cut back on water usage. He is also asking New Yorkers to take shorter showers and skip watering the lawn until we get substantial rain again.

Only a trace amount of rain fell in the city in October, making it one of the driest months in the city’s history. The city’s water supply is currently at about 66 percent of capacity, when 76 percent capacity is normal. Adams says simple tasks like running dishwashers and washing machines only when full, will help New York get through this incredibly long dry spell.
