(Los Angeles, CA) – Teri Garr, a comedic actress well known for appearing in films throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s, has died at the age of 79. She starred as Dr. Frankenstein’s assistant in “Young Frankenstein,” alongside Gene Wilder. Garr also received an Oscar nomination for her work in “Tootsie.” Her co-star Dustin Hoffman paid tribute to her after word broke of her passing.
Garr died in LA on Tuesday following a protracted battle with multiple sclerosis. She also played Richard Dreyfuss’ wife in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Survived by an adult daughter, Garr is known to a younger generation of fans as the mom of Phoebe on “Friends.”
