(Tehran, Iran) – The Israeli military says they carried out direct strikes against Iran in retaliation to missile strikes earlier in the month. Iranian officials say two soldiers were killed in the strikes across three different regions.

Israel claims they only hit military targets, not striking any energy infrastructure. Iran says that they feel “entitled” to defend themselves following the attack. CNN reports that President Biden urged Israel to ensure that the attack would not result in further escalation. Iran’s earlier missile strikes were in response to attacks on the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah, and Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon. This comes as the Gaza Health Ministry says that Israeli forces have detained the male doctors from the last hospital in north Gaza.
