(New York, NY) — NYPD cops are searching for a panhandler, who walked into an East Village Chinese restaurant, asked a customer for money and then hit him over the head with a metal pipe when he refused to give him cash. The vicious attack took place in the middle of the day at the Mee Noodle Shop and Grill on First Avenue. The 60-year-old victim suffered cuts to the head. He is recovering. Police are searching through nearby surveillance cameras hoping to ID the attacker.
Police believe the same man attacked a woman last month with a metal pipe when she would not fork over cash.
